A nice little aiming activity, but let’s remember that the overhand throw is *not* an aiming throw 🎯 This activity would be far more effective (and successful for students) using an underhand throw. ‼️ And while we’re at it, please don’t teach kids to point their non-throwing arm to the target. It freezes their flow and transference of weight. The overhand throw has a downwards and backwards swing during its preparation phase, which many beginner/developing throwers miss out (as do some adults)

Creating a caterpillar 🐛 is a lovely way for students to experience some imagination activation in PE. It could also link to a classroom topic or book (e.g. The very hungry caterpillar, Eric Carle). However, the overhand throw is a FMS that we should be using to develop *distance*, not accuracy. It shouldn't be taught at the same

Here's an interesting FMS (object control) clip for us to talk about called 'Pyramid'. I recently posted here about how the overhand throw is a FMS that is designed for *distance* and not accuracy. So for me, there are some immediate issues here in this activity. The object being thrown (foxtail) is also impeding a sideways, backward motion of the preparation phase, which is so critical to learn early on for all throwers. I'd suggest encouraging use of an underhand throw with a foxtail and varyi
