Fast bows can be achieved via bow design, or setup, but you can't cheat physics. Impact is a result of speed, and deceleration.... | Border Archery

A sample of the chats we have in the border owners group. (If your not an owner. Don't try and join) But let's get into what makes a barebow a barebow and not just a target riser adapted. The shape of the tempest was 100% designed to take a LOT of weight by the pockets and not thump through the weaker centre. The mass isn't meant to be centrally placed. Because that's where its least usefull. The tempest is also 12mm past centre and not your usual 10mm, as we understand string walking needs a li

Here is a customer video of a bows balance. Try it. Equal mass top and bottom, bow strung. The more inline the grip is to the bows limb pockets, the easier this is to achieve. But with class leading deflex, this is a neat reaction which is HARD for a deflexed riser . what do you think? This riser has 2x300g bottle weights, and 3x36g front bar mushrooms. This bow is NOT penduluming... this bow is balanced. Naturally balanced. There is a difference in a bow with natural balance and a bow thats bot

Lots of info missed in this one. String tension sharpens closure. Preload also shapens closure. Both these are effected by deflex and by limb exit angle. But here. A sample of the Info we post on the border owners page. (Don't apply if your not an owner) Deflex. What is it, how do you measure it. And why does it impact brace height and thus the resulting shot feeling as well as balance. | Border Archery

Deflex. Well. It effects your brace height. It effects riser balance. Shot forgiveness. And bow speed. But what is it, and how do you measure it, and what kinda scale are we talking about. Remember. 3.5mm on 35mm is 10%. Here we have 38mm of difference when the standard is 36mm! Barebow riser with less deflex is NOT a barebow riser IMO. Its a production budget, using a smaller billet to reduce machine times. | Border Archery

This was a flying Pitstop reply to a ongoing issue with a string maker. It seems to have landed on limited ears. Knowing FBs moderation options. Out of 45k readers. Only 3 of my friends got to see it. Makes you wonder what moderation steps were involved. The original inflammatory post that prompted this video, seems to have vanished. But this is good all round info, so why not post it here. | Border Archery

OK... I feel we are not breaking down the axis of rotation, and axis of movement to establish the limitations of the placent of mass on a bow. So here is why distributed mass is better than centralised mass. This video excludes deflex, and shot reaction. Just the bows resistance to movement in the absence of a longrod. Now, not all target risers can accomodate distributed mass, and not all risers allow distributed mass to the same extent, for example some complicated pocket system have the upper

The whole world and thier dog is running cross weave carbon. And on the outer face of thier bow facings. Here in this video, you can see UD running length ways over the top of UD at 45degs. And with all things said. Cross weave has its problems. The overs and unders of the weave holds pockets of resin, and that means mass. The fibers are not straight, so not strongest, and therefor there are means of better performance to be gained. The shift from glass to Carbon in a like for like design delive

Carbon fiber is often associated with a woven cloth. It is also available like bow glass. In thats all unidirectional. We use a mix of carbons to make our limb laminates. And we include NO glass in our limb construction. There are VERY VERY few like us in that respect. Ask your bowyer of choice if they include glass in thier construction irrespective of the single carbon, double carbon, triple carbon, gazillion carbon marketting speak they give. Carbon is a black fiber. Unlike E glass or S glas.
