Established in 1865, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department (BCSD) is a law enforcement division which oversees the entirety of Berkeley County, West Virginia. Our team is made up of 68 deputies, lead by the elected Sheriff and his appointed Chief Deputy and Chief Administrator.

The Sheriff of Berkeley County serves as the chief law enforcement officer and is charged with the responsibility of policing the county and keeping the peace, including the power to make arrests. The Sheriff also serves as the Treasurer of the county and collects all taxes levied by the county.

Dec 29, 2023 · MARTINSBURG — Former Berkeley County Sheriff Nathan Harmon’s 2023 began and ended with controversy. Throughout the year, Harmon ran into a significant amount of legal trouble, which eventually led to his resignation from office, which went into effect on Dec. 26.

Jan 18, 2024 · — The Berkeley County Commission voted unanimously Thursday to appoint Robert A. “Rob” Blair to serve the unexpired four-year term of Sheriff of Berkeley County through Dec. 31 of this year.

Nov 6, 2024 · MARTINSBURG — After almost a year of serving as Berkeley County’s sheriff, Rob Blair earned the people’s vote on Tuesday to continue serving for four more years. Blair, the Republican candidate, won overwhelmingly, earning 72.5% of the vote, or 35,005 votes, while Democratic challenger David Jackson 27.5% of the vote, or 13,293.
