Wutip was a tropical storm in the South China Sea early Thursday China Standard Time, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center said in its latest advisory. The tropical storm had sustained wind speeds of 46 miles per hour.

The storms are expected to become weaker in the coming days, but another tropical depression is forecasted to form later in the week.

Tropical Storm Barbara continues to weaken as it heads northwest away from land and is likely to dissipate by Wednesday.
