A fight over redistricting in Texas went nationwide this week, with Texas Democrats fleeing their state to block a vote on new electoral maps and blue states vowing to forge ahead with their own partisan gerrymanders.

Texas Republicans tried again to reconvene the House on Monday for a vote on redrawing congressional maps in their party's favor, an effort that already sparked a national political brawl and prompted Democratic lawmakers to leave the state to deny Republicans the quorum they need.

The battle over mid-decade redistricting in Texas -- where the state’s congressional lines could be redrawn well ahead of the upcoming census -- continues Monday.

Members of the Texas House of Representatives will attempt once again to meet a quorum Monday, more than a week into a standoff after Democrats left the state to block a GOP-led redistricting effort.
