U.S. President Donald Trump's letter to Iran's clerical establishment will be delivered by Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the president of the United Arab Emirates, Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The letter appears to be President Trump’s opening bid to see if a newly vulnerable Iran is willing to negotiate.

"Their talks are not aimed at solving problems," said Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, without mentioning the United States by name.

Iran would consider negotiations with the U.S. if the aim of the talks was to address concerns regarding any potential militarization of its nuclear program, Iran's U.N. mission said on Sunday in a post on X.
