R-Truth's quick return to WWE involved direct negotiations with one of the company's top executives. Fightful Select (via Steve Carrier of Ringside News) reported Truth initially seemed to be a little reticent to engage with WWE in the days after his exit. However, "things opened up" when WWE president Nick Khan entered the picture.

When word broke that R-Truth was being let go by WWE, fans — with even many stars in the company expressing displeasure as well — damn near revolted. They expressed their disgust on social media and then took it to the arenas,

WWE is advertising R-Truth with a new name. Truth made his shocking return to WWE at Money in the Bank. He made quick work of John Cena before disappearing into the crowd. The attack allowed Cody Rhodes to hit Cena with a Cross Rhodes for the win.
