Many residents fled the Altadena and Pasadena area due to the blaze that has consumed more than 10,000 acres with zero containment, according to Lisa Derderian, a city of Pasadena’s information officer. More than 800 people were at the evacuation center, Red Cross volunteers said Wednesday morning.

A fire broke out Tuesday night in the hills above Altadena near Eaton Canyon, prompting a response from firefighters. The Eaton fire has burned more than 400 acres and prompted evacuations in the area west of the Eaton Canyon Golf Course,

A second wildfire fueled by dangerously high winds sparked in Los Angeles County on Tuesday. The Eaton Fire, initially called the Close Fire, sparked just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eaton Canyon near Altadena and Pasadena.
