When Intel debuted its first Arc video cards two years ago, I was more than a little skeptical. Could a company that famously gave up on its last major desktop GPU project in 2009 actually make a dent in a market dominated by NVIDIA and AMD?

A new card with an Intel Arc B580 GPU has been spotted, and this one has a unique layout that runs a pair of M.2 SSDs at the same time.

Speaking to The Verge, Intel spokesperson Mark Anthony Ramirez said, “We expect weekly inventory of the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition graphics card and are working with partners to ensure a steady availability of choices in the market.

The Arc B580 and Arc B570 lead the charge for the Battlemage generation. Both are based on the same GPU silicon, but the B580 has a few more execution resources, slightly higher clock speeds, a 192-bit memory bus instead of 160-bit, and 12GB of memory instead of 10GB.

Sliding in just below the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060's typical price -- $280 versus $249 -- and a little above its typical performance, Intel's Arc B580 graphics card makes a nice impression as a step-up-from-entry upgrade for older PC.

The Intel Arc B580 is available December 13, starting at $249. Keep in mind that this is a starting price, and you might see third party versions of the graphics card at a higher price. Just try to avoid paying more than $300 for it.

It seems Intel has some work to do on Battemage’s Linux support as the B580 is much faster on Windows than on Linux, when normally it’s the other way around for Intel graphics.
