Just hours after placing Ryan Pulock on IR, the Islanders have acquired a defenseman in a trade with the Blues.

After the Blues scratched Perunovich for the previous nine games, he was traded to the Islanders on Monday afternoon in exchange for a conditional 2026 fifth-round draft pick.

Perunovich notched an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Avalanche.

The 5-10, 175-pound Perunovich logged 18:52 and was a plus-2 with two shots, earning enough of Roy’s trust to play key shifts in the third period. Tony DeAngelo, signed out of the KHL on Friday, played 22:11 with two blocked shots as he also earned his first point as an Islander with an assist in his second game.

Perunovich, who had an assist in his Islanders debut on Tuesday in a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche, was not playing for the Blues and was being passed up on the depth chart, first by the acquisition of Cam Fowler, then when the Blues recalled Tyler Tucker from Springfield, he’s played well and kept Perunovich seated.
