The SEC ended up on top of the ACC/SEC challenge again. Yet the conference still has questions after most of the top teams struggled.

After a 14-2 wipe by the SEC in 2024, the ACC bounced back in 2025 as the challenge ended 9-7 in favor of the SEC.

The ACC/SEC challenge wrapped up with Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo getting ejected for taunting in the last 10 seconds of the Fighting Irish's 69-62 loss against Ole Miss. The result gave the SEC a 13-3 victory, solidifying it as the most dangerous conference in the nation.

The ACC’s 7-9 performance against the SEC was a substantial improvement over last year, and featured big wins from NCAA tournament hopefuls.

The two-day inter-conference series between the ACC and SEC provided some fireworks, including Isaiah Evans hitting a go-ahead 3-pointer to lead No. 4 Duke to a 67-66 win over 14th-ranked, defending national champion Florida inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The worry about the SEC being down this season is premature, but the conference doesn’t have a top-tier title contender despite its depth.
