Palmeiras have pulled back from closing a deal for Real Betis striker Vitor Roque. Roque is on-loan at Betis this season from Barcelona, which have been willing to accept a €25m offer from Palmeiras. It was suggested Roque would be leaving Betis this week to return home to Brazil and join Palmeiras.

Roque joined Barcelona in January 2024 in a transfer worth €30million (£26m; $33m) in fixed fees, plus €31m more in add-ons.

Vitor Roque's transfer from Barcelona to Palmeiras is set to fall through due to the Royal Spanish Football Federation's [RFEF] regulations which prevent Real Betis cutting his loan short, various sources have told ESPN.

On-loan to the end of the season from Barcelona, Roque is the subject of a €25m offer from Palmeiras. Barca are ready to accept the bid and sell Roque immediately. However, AS says Betis chiefs are reluctant to lose Roque at this stage of the season.

The Brazilian forward will remain at Betis until the end of the season, at which point he will return to FC Barcelona.
