Luckin Coffee, the largest coffee chain in China, has opened a pair of locations in New York. And that could put an added emphasis on Starbucks’ ongoing turnaround plans, as Luckin has grown to outnumber that company in China, with 22,000 locations.

Luckin Coffee Inc., the Chinese chain that overtook Starbucks back in its home market, is turning up the heat with the opening of its first US locations in New York on Monday.

Starbucks across the country may soon have some serious competition as a new player in the world of coffee and coffee-making enters the U.S. for the first time. CNN reported that Luckin Coffee opened two locations on June 30.
