NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has named one Eastern Conference team as the frontrunner to acquire Rasmus Andersson from the Flames.

The Boston Bruins are reportedly one of the front runners for Calgary Flames top-4 defenseman Rasmus Andersson as the right-handed defenseman appears to be on the verge of getting dealt ahead of the Olympic break in the NHL regular season schedule.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, on Sportsnet's Saturday Headlines segment on Saturday, reported that the Bruins led the negotiations and were the only team allowed to speak with Andersson's agent for a possible extension. The D-man is being looked at as a long-term solution rather than a midseason rental.

The Detroit Red Wings continue to be linked to a possible trade for Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, although there has been nothing leaking out of GM Steve Yzerman’s organization.
