According to the FBI, murder and nonnegligent manslaughter decreased an estimated 14.9%; robbery decreased an estimated 8.9%; rape decreased an estimated 5.2%; and aggravated assault decreased an estimated 3.0%.

A new FBI report says violent crime in the United States fell 4.5% last year while property crime dropped 8% from the year before.

While crime rates dipped across the board last year, including murder and hate crimes, the FBI recorded a 10-year high in reported officer assaults.
