The Yurechenko double pike is what most would consider the hardest move in all of women’s vaulting. But 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles pulled it off, becoming the first female gymnast to successfully perform this vault in international competition.
Biles took home four medals during the 2024 Olympics in Paris, including golds in the team event, all-around and vault, as well as a silver for floor exercise. The competition was the gymnast’s big comeback after she withdrew during the 2021 event.
The 2024 Core Hydration Classic was Simone Biles first outing of the year. She won the all-aroud title with a 59.500, nearly two points ahead of world all-around bronze medalist Shilese Jones (57.650).
