Russian forces continue to exert pressure on Ukrainian positions in Russia's Kursk Oblast and have made progress. Russian troops are consolidating their positions in the eastern part of the town of Sudzha and are building up forces.

Russia said on Tuesday that its troops had retaken over 100 square kilometres (38.6 square miles) of territory and 12 settlements in its Kursk region as part of an offensive to force the Ukrainian army to flee from western Russia.

The announcement followed talks in Saudi Arabia where Kyiv said it would support the Trump administration’s proposal for a 30-day cease-fire with Russia.

The Trump administration’s decision to halt US military-technical assistance and the uncertainty around continued intelligence sharing with Kyiv will have consequences that take time to be fully felt.
