NEW YORK - New York State is raising the minimum wage by $0.50 to $16.50 an hour for employees in New York City, Long Island and Westchester, according to the state's Department of Labor. The rest of the state will also see a $0.50 increase to $15.50. The 2025 increases will be followed by another $0.50 increase in 2026.

Let's start with minimum wage. It's going up 50 cents an hour in New York to $16.50 for New York City, Long Island and Westchester County and to $15.50 for the rest of the state.

For most workers, the hourly wage is going up to $16.50 in New York City, Long Island and Westchester County and $15.49 in the Garden State.

The minimum wage in New York has increased by 50 cents, now reaching $15.50 an hour in our area. For full-time employees, the additional 50 cents per hour amounts to about $1,000 a year before taxes.

The start of the new year means new workplace-related laws, including another bump in the minimum wage, will take effect in the state.

As of 2024, Florida's minimum wage is $13 an hour for non-tipped workers and $9.98 for tipped workers. But for 2025, hourly workers will see a $1 increase in wages, bringing the minimum wage to $14 an hour for non-tipped workers and $10.98 for tipped workers.
