Forecasters say 12 to 18 inches of snow could fall across large portions of New York as part of a potentially historic storm impacting more than two dozen states. Some spots could see as much as two feet by Tuesday evening, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Western New York outside of Southern Erie and Wyoming counties. This advisory will be in place until 1 pm on Friday. Up to 9 inches of snow is possible, and wind gusts of 40 miles per hour will impact your morning and evening commutes.
On Sunday, City of Buffalo and Erie County leaders outlined their plans to keep residents safe as a significant winter storm moves into Western New York.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Lake effect snow continues to dump on Upstate New York. On Thursday, multiple crashes in heavy snow shut down the state Thruway’s westbound lanes near Buffalo for hours. Snow and poor visibility contributed to a massive pileup of 37 vehicles south of Syracuse.
