The next phase of updated California Fire Hazard Severity Zones, which assess the likelihood of wildfire behavior in local responsibility areas, was released Monday morning by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and Cal Fire.

The new fire hazard severity zone maps issued by Cal Fire this week are part of a two-month statewide rollout.

Cal Fire's new hazard zone maps show information on topography, fire weather, flame length, past fire history, vegetation type and the overall likelihood of a wildfire igniting in the area.

"It is always a concern, when you live in an area that it is so open, that you could have a fire erupt at any point," said Corinne Beshara.
