The Chicago Bears plan to interview former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll for their head-coaching job Thursday, a league source confirmed Tuesday. ESPN first reported the news. The outlet and others also reported Tuesday that the Dallas Cowboys denied the Bears’ request to interview Dallas coach Mike McCarthy for the vacant coaching job.

Over half of the league is staying at home for the playoffs, but that does not stop them from remaining active. Such is the case for the Chicago Bears, who are once again searching for a new head coach after yet another disappointing season.

Carroll, who won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks, is scheduled to interview with the Bears on Thursday, a source said. He is one of more than a dozen coaches the Bears have requested to interview as general manager Ryan Poles seeks to do a deeper dive into the candidate pool than he did when he hired Matt Eberflus in 2022.
