With investigations into drone sightings ongoing, and reports that there have been over 5,000 sightings, Newsweek looks at everything the White House has said.

White House spokesman John Kirby joins TODAY to talk about the mysterious drone sightings along the East Coast, saying "Right now our assessment leads us to conclude that these are lawful and legal aviation activities.

The numerous drone sightings by members of the public in East Coast states are not out of the ordinary and do not pose “a national security or public safety risk,” the FBI and three other federal agencies said in a joint statement Monday night.

John Kirby, the spokesperson for the National Security Council, told CNN Monday that the drones reported recently over New Jersey and other East Coast states do not pose a threat to the public, and “represent lawful,

The White House wants Congress to pass legislation that would give greater authority to the federal, state and local governments to address drones that fly in U.S. airspace.
