With TikTok's days in the U.S. potentially numbered, many American users are moving to another Chinese social media app: RedNote, a heavily censored platform similar to Instagram. Here's what to know.

TikTok users are reportedly ditching the Chinese-owned app in droves as a possible US ban approaches, many jumping onto the "Goodbye to my Chinese spy" meme in the process. But the kicker is that many of them are choosing to jump onto RedNote. Yup, RedNote is Chinese, too.

A Chinese social media app called “RedNote” or Xiaohongshu is the top app in Apple's App Store as TikTok users are searching for alternatives.

With a TikTok ban looming, some users are scrambling to find a new destination for trending videos. The idea to ban the short-form video app because of security concerns tied to its Beijing-based owner initially came up during President-elect Donald Trump’s first term.

As a potential US ban on TikTok looms, some users of the video platform are already migrating... to other Chinese-owned lifestyle apps. Two apps owned by Chinese companies, Xiaohungshu (which translates to "little red book" and has been called RedNote) and Lemon8,

TikTok could be outlawed in the U.S. as soon as Jan. 19 over concerns about its Chinese ownership, unless it gets a reprieve from the Supreme Court or if Beijing-based parent company ByteDance complies with a federal law forcing it to sell its stake in the app.
