An iconic Disney teen movie is being rebooted into a TV series and has been ordered to pilot by streaming platform Disney+. According to Variety, The Mindy Project's Alina Mankin will serve as a writer and executive producer while Primetime Emmy-award nominated Liz Phang will be the showrunner and also executive produce the Holes remake.

Disney previously adapted “Holes” as a 2003 film starring Shia LaBeouf as Stanley, and Khleo Thomas as Hector “Zero” Zeroni. The adult cast included Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Tim Blake Nelson, Patricia Arquette, Dulé Hill, and Eartha Kitt. It was written by Sachar and Andrew Davis directed.

Drew Goddard will executive produce the show that's a new take on Louis Sachar's 1998 book and the 2003 movie.
