I would say soon after school starts (Aug 1 in our district) would be best, before school field trips begin, and after the summer tourists have gone home would be optimal. It is large, but not huge, and can be loud when there's a lot of kids around.

Hi there! Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors 65+, $10 for students, and children under 3 are free (prices do not include tax). We hope you can visit soon!
